Andrew Costa is a Doctoral Student in the Aging, Health, and Well-being program and a Research Associate in the ideas for Health research cluster at the University of Waterloo. Andrew’s research interests involve care needs and transitions among the frail elderly across the continuum of care. Particularly he is interested in the management and prevention of “alternate level of care” patients in Ontario hospitals, emergency departments, and home care.

Currently, Andrew serves as an associate researcher on a Change Foundation funded study that investigates the needs and transitions of Ontario’s acute ALC population. He is also an associate researcher on a pilot study of the interRAI ED Screener. Lastly, Andrew is the coordinator of the OHCRN ALC Knowledge Exchange Network.
