Biosketch:

Dr. Markle-Reid is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing, McMaster University, a Career Scientist of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and a Faculty Investigator in the McMaster University, System-Linked Research Unit on Health and Social Services Utilization. Her clinical areas of expertise are in gerontology, home care, community health nursing, health promotion, chronic disease management, and unpaid caregivers. Dr. Markle-Reid’s research program focuses on evaluating the comparative effects and expense of proactive clinical interventions to enhance the health and quality of life of older people with chronic needs and their unpaid caregivers requiring home care services. Her research covers a spectrum of complex populations and conditions, including stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, falls, and depression. This research is supported by grants from the Canadian Institute of Health Research, The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, The Canadian Patient Safety Institute, The Alzheimer Society of Canada, and The Canadian Nurses Foundation.
